English Premier League – Arsenal beats Tottenham 3-1

The Non-stop action campaign full of drama and excitement which is the Premier League is back after a brief hiatus to honour the passing of Queen Elizabeth of England for approximately two weeks.

The opening fixture was the north London derby which is always an intriguing clash between the two teams from the traditional top six in the premier league.

Thomas Partey found the back of the net with an assist from the defender, Benjamin White as early in the 20th minute to give the Gunners the advantage but the prolific Harry Kane scored the abrupt leveler with a penalty strike to make it 1-1 after eleven minutes.

Mikel Arteta’s side retained their lead from Gabriel Jesus’ strike immediately after half-time with Granit Xhaka solidifying their win.

Tottenham conceded a red card two minutes after the hour-mark with a heinous foul from the midfielder, Emerson Royal on Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli.

The fact that Arsenal ended Tottenham’s 13-match league winning streak was a clear indication of their intentions.

In 30 home league games against Tottenham, Arsenal has only lost once. However, there was much more on the line for the Gunners than just local pride.

This impressive performance proved that Mikel Arteta’s squad has strengthened and it’s a fierce side to reckon with it even though their first loss this season against Manchester United.
