The Kolmani Integrated Development Project (KIPRO) on the boundary of Bauchi and Gombe States has commenced and it was flagged off by President Muhammed Buhari.

Buhari performed the ground-breaking ceremony of Kolmani Oil Prospecting Lease (OPL) 809 and 810 at Kolmani field site on Tuesday, November 22.

In 2020, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC) discovered oil in commercial volume in the region.  It would be the first oil drilling site in Northern Nigeria.

Kolmani fields hold over a billion crude oil reserve, which could significantly raise Nigeria‚Äôs oil reserve that has not grown in 10 years. However, there is still uncertainty about an independent confirmation of this estimate, or even the commercial viability of the project.
