Nigerian politician, Ifeanyi Ararume sues Buhari for N100billion : Seeks reinstatement as Chairman of NNPC board

Ifeanyi Ararume, a former Senator from Imo State and current All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, has sued President Muhammadu Buhari for wrongful removal as Chairman of the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC).

In the suit filed at an Abuja High Court, Ararume is seeking N100billion as damages and his immediate reinstatement as Chairman of the board of NNPC.

President Buhari had initially appointed Ararume as board chairman on Sptmber 2021 but reversed the appointment and replaced Ararume with Margaret Chuba Okadigbo, who is the widow of the late ex Senate President, Chuba Okadigbo.

If this law suit succeeds and the quoted damages awarded, it would rank as one of the biggest damages ever awarded by a Nigerian Court.

The questions on the minds of most Nigerians would center around what exactly made President Buhari to change his mind on Ararume. Was due diligence not carried not before such a sensitive appointment was made?
