MALCOLM-OMIRHOBO

In the wake of the redesigned Naira notes, Malcolm Omirhobo, the advocacy lawyer who challenged the ruling of the Supreme Court on dress code / hijab for lawyers in Nigeria, has voiced out his opinion on Arabic letters on the Nigerian Naira.

Omirhobo sent out a tweet today which stated:

“Arabic is not one of the four official languages of Nigeria namely English , Yoruba , Hausa and Igbo . It is not indigenous to Nigeria and therefore to have it on our country’s currency offends the clear provisions of section 55 of the constitution”

He is very correct. Arabic is not one of our national languages.

Why on earth would Arabic letters be on the Nigerian National Currency?
