Wike throws challenge at Obaseki, Okowa – What have you done with your 13% derivation payments

Reveals Buhari Government paid arrears of 13% derivation from 1999

The Governor of River State, Nyesom Wike threw a subtle challenge at his fellow Niger Delta Governors who are in oil producing states.

Wike, on Thursday, at the commissioning of the Nkpolu-Oroworukwo flyover revealed that Niger Delta States had been paid arrears of 13% derivation from 1999 by the Buhari Federal Government.

He said that is the secret to all his new projects.

The stunning revelation means that the other Niger Delta Governors need to start accounting for the payments they received from the Federal Government.

In particular, Delta State needs to show what exactly they have used the refunds for as they were noted as having the highest refund of about N140billion.

Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa is the vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and so far, we are yet to see projects on the scale as done in Rivers State by Nyesom Wike.

Same goes for Obaseki in Edo State.

Ifeanyi Okowa and the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki are currently at daggers drawn with Nyesome Wike over the coming 2023 presidential elections in which Wike lost out for both the presidential and vice-presidential ticket of the PDP.
